Hip Pro+ is an IoT-enabled smart wearable device with protective cushions covering hip bones. The belt is worn across the waist. The protective cushion is inflated < 0.5 seconds from the time of detection of change in posture.
Working of Hip Pro+
Hip Pro+ consists of a combination of electronic hardware and a developed AI algorithm. The system analyses movements up to 1,000 times per second. It is utilizing motion-sensing technology built into a lightweight, super comfortable unobtrusive form factor belt that can accurately detect the wearer’s postural characteristics and fall probabilities.
The sensors are used to detect the posture and activity of the wearer. When a change in posture is sensed, the belt inflates a slim cushion, encompassing the anatomical hip bilaterally before the person hits the floor. Accurate posture detection is accomplished via an algorithm using machine learning techniques to analyze thousands of hours of motion data collected from subjects and open sources. The cushions are kept inflated till the user comes to a position where he/she has no risk of falling. Once that state is achieved, the valve gate is opened and the air is released, deflating the cushions.
The intelligent belt can connect to Wi-Fi to relay communication to caregivers. With sufficient data, Hip Pro+ will be able to predict the risk % of falls for the next week with a 90+% accuracy. Predicting falls in the near future will enable the elderly and caregivers to more effective and peaceful independent life.
